UK Innovator Founder Visa

The Innovator Founder Visa is for start-up entrepreneurs and experienced businesspersons seeking to establish a business in the UK.

Applicants do not need to have any specific level of funds to invest in their proposed business but must have an innovative, viable, and scalable business idea, supported by a business plan, which has been approved by an endorsing body.

Applicants for an Innovator Founder Visa must have generated, or have significantly contributed to their business idea.  Innovator Founders must also intend to have a key role in the day-to-day management and development of their business.

Innovator Founder visas are valid for 3 years and can lead directly to indefinite leave to remain in the UK at the end of this period.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this visa, your business idea must meet the following criteria:

Newness

The business must be a new venture, not currently in operation.

Innovation

It should offer a unique product or service distinct from existing market offerings.

Viability

The business plan should demonstrate feasibility and growth potential.

Scalability

You must have plans for expansion, job creation, and expansion into national and international markets.

Applicants must accumulate 70 points across various categories, with 50 points required from either the 'New Business' or 'Same Business' criteria, but not both.

Application Process

  • Develop a comprehensive business plan.

  • Seek endorsement from an approved endorsing body in the UK such as Envestors Limited, UK Endorsement Services, Innovator International, or The Global Entrepreneurs Programme (GEP).

  • Complete the online application form based on your location.

  • Verify your identity through a biometric residence permit or the "UK Immigration: ID Check" app

  • Visa processing typically takes 3 weeks for applicants outside the UK and 8 weeks for those already inside the UK
